Welcome to Room 24's blog for 2020. We are an energetic Year 2 class and our teachers are Mrs Sue Dijkstra and Mrs Kylie Smith. We are looking forward to working together and learning lots of exciting and new things this year! Please check our blog regularly to see what we have been up to. We would love to read your comments.
Alex, isn’t it strange that some animals do the opposite of us? Do you know any that do that? Your pizza looks very yummy - what other kinds of food could you do this with too? Elizabeth, is there a quick way to count your Anzac biscuits on the baking tray? Astin, it’s really lovely to see you enjoying reading. Your picture made me smile especially after the very windy and rainy days last week.
Alex you have been doing alot of fantastic learning haven't you. You are very interested in the planets and learning about them, do you think you would like to travel to the moon one day? Your pizza making looks like a fun way to practice your fractions, and they were obviously yummy as you ate them all up!! Once again you have written a very clear recount of how you baked your anzac basics Elizabeth, I'm glad they tasted good, I bet they didn't last long? You seem to really enjoy reading Astin, you are very lucky to have your big sister help you with words your unsure of and testing you to make sure you understand what your reading, that is fantastic!
Top work Room 24 for you effort with learning from home this week. Alex, what super learning you did about day and night. Your pizza looked delicious. I could see great mathematical learning about fractions too, well done! Elizabeth, your ANZAC biscuits look yummy scrummy. The ones we made didn't last long in our house as they got gobbled up quickly. I wonder how long yours will last in your house? Wonderful reading with your sister, Astin. She looks like a super helper. I wonder what story you are reading in the photo and what your favourite part was... I haven't read the 'Diary of a Spider', maybe my boys would like that book. Super work with your picture you created too. You have been working very hard, keep it up!
I love seeing the distance learning work you have all been doing. Elizabeth, Anzac biscuits are my favourite. Do you know how many biscuits you got from one batch? Can you work it out without having to count each one? Alex, what a delicious way to learn about fractions. I see you cut your pizza into eighths, do you know how many eighths are in one (pizza)? Great reading Astin. I loved your picture of the 'Diary of a Spider', it could be a new design for the cover. Maybe when we get back to school you could read your review to the class, I'm sure some of the other children would enjoy it too.
Fantastic work Alex, researching day and night. Your pizza looks delicious Alex. Fractions with the benefit of being able to eat them afterwards sounds delicious. Those ANZAC biscuits look delicious Elizabeth. Did you eat them all? You have been doing some awesome Reading Astin. Keep it up. From Mrs Burge
Great to see your poster and model about day/night Alex. I find it strange to think that it is always day or night somewhere in the world. When I speak to my son in Canada it is later in the day but yesterday - how weird is that! Your ANZAC biscuits look so yummy Elizabeth! Have they all been eaten yet? My family like them so much I keep having to make more. It's great to see you enjoying your reading Astin. How kind of your sister to help you. She sounds like a wonderful teacher. I think it's a wonderful idea to paint a summer picture to remind you of happy, sunny days when it's cold and miserable outside.
